Among other reasons, yacht charters in Mallorca are incredibly popular due to the easy access to its international airport from all major European destinations. In addition, the airport is only 9 kilometers from the capital, Palma, as it is known to its residents.<\/p>\n

Its favorable location in the western Mediterranean places this wonderful island and the surrounding Balearics Islands in the immediate vicinity of the Spanish mainland and the port cities of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bValencia and Denia. Palma is often used by sailors as a resting point when crossing the Mediterranean. The area is a great place for sailing charter yachts due to the variety of different islands that make up the Balearic Islands. Ibiza, Formentera and Menorca can be reached in just one day’s sailing. However, they each offer something completely different in terms of culture, landscape, and atmosphere.<\/p>\n

There are some well-established marinas and some new, pristine ones to choose from for your yacht charter in Mallorca. The yacht ports of Palma itself offer plenty of luxury and boat rentals, while the exclusive marinas of Puerto Portals, Port Adriano and Puerto Andratx are well-suited for luxury boat rentals in Mallorca. Palma has Club Mar, La Longa Marina Charter, Real Club Nautico and Marina Navira Balearic. Lots of day rentals, especially for motor yachts, are available here. Also very nice is the newly rebuilt Hotel Muelle Viejo right next to the magnificent cathedral. There are some great new restaurants just opposite that bring you some fast food on board. There you can then sit on your private deck for dinner, enjoying the enchanting view of the lit-up cathedral and feeling the pulse of the vibrant city centre. Puerto Portals is just a 10-minute drive away and has long been known as a major port for luxury yacht charters in Mallorca. If you’re sitting at “Flannagans,” for example, you might be table neighbors with the likes of the King of Spain or Rafael Nadal. And the port of Adriano (about a 20-minute drive from the city centre), with its sophisticated design by Philippe Starck, is a veritable luxury yacht harbor with a touch of understated elegance and undeniable beauty.<\/p>\n

Now you might come here for your sailing holidays, but there’s so much more to do if you only knew where and when… There isn’t a day that goes by in Palma that there isn’t some kind of party or event. From January to December, there is always something going on here. If you haven’t attended it yet, seeing the Three Kings arrive in port on Spanish Christmas Day, January 6, is a sight to behold. And at the end of January there is a whole week of festivities called San Sebastian. The many life bands play in the streets, you can ‘run with the devils’ or join the huge weekend barbecue. In summer, you can take your pick of the regattas: be it the Superyacht Cup in June, the Princesa del Rey in July, or the King’s Cup in August.<\/p>\n

It’s great to see downtown Palma, as it is in the old quarter. You will find that the overall architecture is a mixture of the intricate oriental style and the majestic western style. Palma’s famous cathedral, commonly referred to as \u00b4La Seu\u00b4 is second to none in the world. Also has to be the gorgeous Castell de Bellver which overlooks Palma and boasts some unbelievable views over the entire bay.<\/p>\n

Apart from sightseeing galore, tasting local specialties such as the famous Sobrasada sausage or lomo\u00b4 (pork sirloin) with some Mallorquin wine is a pure pleasure.<\/p>\n

Shopping facilities are available to buy souvenirs or in preparation for your yacht charter in Palma de Mallorca. Just head to the El Corte Ingles superstore (it also has a luxury delicatessen section) or to the Porto Pi shopping center near Club de Mar. You can buy fresh produce in abundance in Santa Fe’s central Catalina Market during the morning. And in the old town and city center, there is an endless array of great boutiques and shops for you to choose from.<\/p>\n

The nightlife is great. Just head down the water towards the promenade known as Paseo Maritimo. There you will find the best clubs, bars and terraces, all overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, all filled with happy yacht visitors.<\/p>\n

What are the best day trip charters from Palma de Mallorca?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Off the beaten track, Palma is the heart of Mallorca, and yet it’s not all… You can take several car trips by car, head to the magnificent Tramuntana mountain range and visit some very charming little villages there. Deia, Valdemossa or Puerto de Soller are just a few names you should remember. There is a very nice 100+ year old train that goes from Palma to Soller and from there you can catch the attractive tram to the port. A recommended excursion on the water will be a guided tour of Cabrera Island, which is also a nature reserve. On the way they will tell you a lot about the interesting history as well as the fauna and flora of this place. Go swimming in grottoes with crystal clear waters and soak up the Mediterranean sun. A one-day yacht charter, most likely on a motor yacht from Palma, would be another option to go there.
